Hello, hello again! I’m writing to you from Spring Break to share another update I’ve made in my TpT store.
Like my Conversational Skills unit, I’ve updated and combined several units dealing with reasoning and problem solving into one Social Reasoning and Problem Solving unit.
The original units were: Social Reasoning, Functional Problem Solving, College and Career Problem Solving, Emotion Vocabulary, and Prioritizing Problems.
This new unit contains:
30 task cards
4 sorting/matching activities (printable and Boom decks)
83 situations to analyze
Like my Conversational Skills unit, the PDFs are fillable, making them perfect for teletherapy (or just saving paper!).
Once again, I didn’t change the topics that were covered, I just made them neurodivergent affirming. That means providing teacher’s guides that share the rationale and ideas for how you talk to your students about the topics, as well as adjusting the stimulus and prompts as needed.
We’re once again focusing on how they think about skills rather than getting the right or wrong answer.
To give you a better idea of what I’m trying to do, I’m going to attach a few images so that you can see how I’m approaching it. I’d love input about questions that might need to be reworded or eliminated to make sure that we’re being supportive of our student’s needs.
I hope you’ll enjoy looking at this new, updated unit and consider updating your own social skills materials and techniques as needed to support our students. And if you check out this new unit, I hope you’ll let me know what you think!
